Principal Tower – Foster and Partners
July 17th, 2017 in Quarry Visit
We have recently completed the last of the three initial visits inspecting blocks, slabs and mock ups for a great project we are lucky enough to be working on. Principal Tower is a 50 story residential building in a mixed use development Principal Place in Hackney. The building has been designed by Foster & Partners but their interiors team have also been working on the tower developing the detailed specification for the apartments.
The designers have given prospective purchasers two colour pallets for their bathrooms. An Arabescato Corchia vanity top and bath surround complemented by Blue Savoy Dark tiles for wall and floor. Or Pietra Grey bespoke items with Blue Savoy Light.
The inspection trips have included a visit to the incredible Arabescato quarry in Carrara and also the Blue Savoy quarry near Bourg En Bresse, France. We also went to the small workshop fabricating the bespoke items in Carrara and the factory in St Amour supplying the 60x60cm floor tiles and the 60x30cm wall tiles.
During this time we have managed to select and approve the Blue Savoy by way of mock ups and slabs. We have fine-tuned the Arabescato required firstly marking up slabs in our first trip and then viewing a sample vanity top and bath surround presented by the factory for the second. After all was agreed we selected two blocks to fabricate the initial tranche of items required on site in September. For the Pietra Grey the slabs were also selected and reserved for the initial requirement.
