This project went through many stages of stone selection. We started with Jerusalem (Benjamin) Grey then switched to Piasentina. Finally the architect Morey Smith chose Savannah Grey (honed 220) Limestone in a 1200x450x20mm tile.
To ensure the most consistent selection, we visited the factory with the architect to pick the most suitable bundles of slabs from the 100's available. The factory was just a few hours boat/taxi ride from Istanbul and the architect arrived clutching the original hand sample sent to their office many months ago. Using this sample we selected the lightest slabs we could find to match it. The slabs were set aside, honed then cut to size.
